We are BCC Students!

BCC Student Ministries isn't just a place where students go on Sunday evenings to hang out with friends, sing some songs and listen to a bible-based message.  We are a community of students and adults across the Mid-Michigan region who want to make God known in our communities.  We love Jesus.  We love music.  We play video games.  We go to concerts.  We go camping.  We play paintball and laser tag. We love our neighbors and we want YOUR students to get involved in our ministry!

We Reach.

We believe that it is vital for the Church to be reaching the next generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ....and so, instilled in the culture of BCC for decades, we strive to reach the students in our community through a variety of means.

In a major way, we strive to do so through our weekly youth group program. For youth group, we meet in The Hub at the west side of the church on Sunday evenings.  During these meetings, we hang out with friends, play lots of games, listen to lots of music, and spend some time worshipping and  learning from God's word together.  Our middle school students meet from 5:00pm-6:30pm (doors open at 4:45pm) and our high school students meet from 7:00pm-8:30pm (doors open at 6:45).

We also host a variety of special events (like messy games, lock-in's, and bonfires) as well as off-site events and trips (like Michigan's Adventure, winter retreats, and fishing trips) that are designed to give students opportunities to enjoy fun and engaging experiences with their peers, alongside caring adults, ultimately with the purpose of reaching the next generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We Build.

We believe that our primary mission as followers of Jesus Christ is to make disciples.  This simply means that we are walking with Jesus and bringing others along to walk with us as well.  Within BCC Student Ministries, this is truly the heartbeat of everything we do.  However, we have developed a couple programs that are specifically purposed to help our students grow as disciples of Jesus and for them to make disciples of their peers as well.

First, we have our Discipleship Community classes on Sunday Mornings at 10:00am (9am during the Summer Worship Schedule).  These classes are split up by grade level and gender (MS Boys, MS Girls, HS Boys, HS Girls).  In these classes, our middle school students go through The Gospel Project's student curriculum (a chronological study of the Bible designed for Students).  Our high school students have a broader scope, focusing on Christian living, apologetics & theology.

Another manner in which we engage in intentional discipleship is through our Student Communities.  We host our Student Communities (SC's) every Wednesday evening from 6pm-8pm, primarily at the church.  SC's are groups of BCC Students that meet weekly with a threefold purpose:

1) Grow in their faith intentionally together

2) Pray deeply with and for one another

3) Engage missionally in outreach together

All for the sake of caring deeply for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.  If your student isn't involved in a Student Community, contact us today to get them involved!

We Send.

BCC Student Ministries isn't just something that happens at church.  It's something we do every single day.  In Matthew 28, Jesus commands his disciples to go and make disciples and obey his teachings.  Those two commands aren't two separate commands...you can't make disciples without obeying his teachings, and you can't obey his teachings without making disciples.  This isn't something we do, it's who we are!

Although we do this in our everyday lives, we also do this through things like community service, outreach events, etc...

    How can you serve?!

Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another, the performing of miracles,to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues. One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.

    1 Corinthians 12:4-11

We firmly believe that Paul is writing here to his brothers and sisters in the Corinthian church charging them to discover the manner in which the Holy Spirit has gifted them to serve their church family and community.  Now, as we fast forward a couple thousands years, we aren't saying that Paul is exclusively talking about a specific list of gifts for a small amount of people.  We tend to read this and believe that his examples of miracles, prophecy, tongues, etc...were just that...examples.

Whether it's teaching, hospitality, musical ability, graphic design, photography, or an incredible smile...we believe that God has gifted each one of us with gifts, talents, personality traits, and experiences that specifically equip us to serve "the common good".

Although we recognize that serving in student ministry is not for everyone, we certainly know God calls folks to serve in this ministry...and if you want to know more about what we do and how you might be able to use the manner in which God has wired you to serve the next generation at BCC...fill out the link below and one of our ministry leaders will reach out!
